Kick Abuse at Kickapoo 5K Trail Run/Fun Walk to raise awareness and funds against child abuse
It's the 7th Annual race against child abuse. Commemorating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Pediatric Resource Center is raising awareness and much-needed funds in the fight against child abuse and neglect with the 7th Annual Kick Abuse at Kickapoo 5K Trail Run/Fun Walk. Back this year is a Kids Fun Run for children, ages 10 and under to start immediately after the finish of the Run/Walk.
All proceeds will help the PRC provide specialized, child-friendly medical exams and case management services to child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect. In the last five years, the PRC evaluated more than 2,400 central Illinois children for these concerns.
Please note: the run/walk takes place on a grass trail through part of the vineyard and will have a cross country start. Participants age 21 and over receive three free wine tastings from Kickapoo Creek Winery after the race. Participants under 21 years of age will receive a ticket for Kona Ice and Kona Ice will be on site. A brunch is available afterward for $10 per person. The PRC also is seeking volunteers for race day. Sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are still available.
The Pediatric Resource Center (PRC) is a service provider for the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria. Since its inception in 1993, more than 7,500 children from over 50 counties throughout Illinois have benefited from the services of the PRC.
