Go Baby Go ride-on toy cars helping kids with disabilities become mobile.
On Saturday, July 22, 2017 five children with spina bifida who receive services through OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois will be presented with modified ride-on toy cars that give them the ability to move around like never before.
Go Baby Go, a national, community-based research, design and outreach program that provides modified ride-on cars to children with limited mobility, has partnered with University of Illinois engineers and interns from the Jump Trading Simulation & Education Center, OSF Children’s Hospital physical and occupational therapists, and numerous volunteers to help children with spina bifida explore the world through independent mobility.
Together, they’ve customized ride-on toy cars by rewiring the gas and brake pedals to be hand-driven with upper body support.
