Census Complete Count Committee Training
Since the decennial census happens next year, now is the time to form a 2020 Census Complete Count Committee (CCC). On Friday, October 18th, from 10A-Noon in the Civic Plaza the City will host a CCC training for all interested parties in conjunction with the Census Bureau. While the focus will primarily be on East Peoria, there may be some other communities in attendance as this is an important issue for our region.
The purpose of this training is to help us set up and manage an effective Complete Count Committee (CCC) that promotes and facilitates participation in the 2020 Census. The training will explore a range of strategies and techniques that will better prepare us to increase the response rate from previous decennials, especially among those groups less likely to participate. Templates, tools, and best practices will be introduced to encourage ways to identify community resources that help increase public awareness, importance, and safety of the 2020 Census. The training will also offer information and updates on Census operations, recruitment/jobs, and timeline milestones so that we can plan our efforts to help complement and coincide with Census Bureau activities. Our trainer, Caryl Riley is from the Chicago Regional Census Center. Please feel free to forward this to any individual, neighborhood group and/or churches in our community who will be helpful in reaching our citizens!
