About Us
Teen Challenge of Peoria Redemption Center is a 24-hour residential center for men age 18 and older who are dealing with drug and/or alcohol addictions. Teen Challenge is a faith-based ministry, which believes there is a cure for drug addiction, alcoholism and life-controlling problems. Our goal is to help hurting people become whole persons in a broken world.
Teen Challenge of Illinois is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, incorporated in the state of Illinois, and is completely supported by donations.
This 14-month character development program offers a daily regiment of structured, disciplined living. The results have been absolutely incredible. A study by the National Institute for Drug Abuse found that a Teen Challenge center had an 86% cure rate for heroin addiction. In 1992, Dr. Roger Thompson of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga conducted a study focusing on 13 years of Teen Challenge graduates.
Dr. Thompson found that 75% of the graduates were still drug free, 67% were abstaining from both drugs and alcohol, and 88% needed no further treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Using the same approach, Teen Challenge of Illinois claims a cure rate of over 70%.
Teen Challenge is not a traditional medical-model drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. We are a faith-based, Christ centered alternative to help men and women rebuild their lives. There is a cure for the drug epidemic plaguing our nation. We believe the cure is found only in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
