US relations with both Koreas are in a state of flux. The high stakes, as well as the high degree of uncertainty, are making for an unprecedented diplomatic situation. Defense Secretary James Mattis calls the relationship between the US and the ROK the “linchpin of peace” in the entire Asian Pacific region. Why is the US renegotiating the terms of its strategic relationship with a such critical ally, and what does this mean for trade, international business, and economic growth at home?
“The Future of Korea” features a panel of experts from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the US Department of State on North Korea, and the Korean Economic Institute. They will address the economic, political, and security relationship between Korea and the United States. Each panelist will share their perspective on recent developments in these sectors. The event will be held on Thursday, September 20, in the ballroom of the Student Center at Bradley University. An optional dinner will be served at
5:30 pm, and the discussion will begin at 7 pm. It is open to the public. Tickets for the dinner and program may be purchased at www.pawac.org.
