100 years ago the Riverboat Columbia sank in the Illinois River near Peoria, the worst loss of life ever on the river. Local author Ken Zurski will be visiting Wheels O’ Time Museum on July 11, 2018. The museum’s scale model of the Columbia, part of the River and Rails exhibit, will be the gathering point for an informal visit with interested folks at 2:00, followed at 3:00 in the museum library, by his discussion of the disaster on July 5, 1918. All visitors to the museum are invited to attend this very interesting discussion of the terrible tragedy where 87 lives were lost, which started out as a happy holiday excursion. Ken Zurski’s book, shown above is for sale in the museum’s gift shop.
