The public is invited to a dedication ceremony for a new Illinois State Historical Marker. It commemorates R.G. LeTourneau and his Carefree Steel House located at the Museum. The new marker is adjacent to the LeTourneau’s Carefree Steel House which was dedicated and opened to the public one year ago.
The Carefree Steel House was donated to the Museum by Komatsu America. It was renovated through the efforts of a partnership between the Museum, the Central Illinois Landmarks Foundation and the Peoria Historical Society. The Historical Marker was underwritten through a donation to the Steel House Revival Project by the Bielfeldt Foundation. Illinois State Senator David Koehler and Bill Furry, the Executive Director of the Illinois State Historical Society will be speaking at the Historical Marker dedication ceremony.
